Blood on the Grindstone

I’m introducing a new weekly feature called VOW, which stands for Video-Of-the-Week. Typically, this will be a music video from a metal/hard rock band that I find interesting. I will be focusing on the combination of the music with the visuals and, of course, this will go hand-in-hand with the other dark content of this blog.

This week’s video is Rammstein’s “Sonne” (which means “sun” in German). It tells the tale of a narcissistic, drug-addicted Snow White who is abusive to her hard-working Seven Dwarves. I saw this video for the first time, this past weekend, and I loved it. I always liked the song and the twisted visuals really enhance the music. Fairly tales seem to be the new vampires and werewolves, so I thought that this video was  a relevant choice. Nothing against “Once Upon a Time”, “Grimm” and “Snow White and the Hunstman”, but Rammstein’s is the kind of fairy tale re-telling that I’d like to see.
